Good morning! It’s been a while, I know. I’m out here in the great state of Pennsylvania visiting my family and attending a couple of weddings. During this time, I’ve also been taking a break from playing the daily slates as well due to lack of time (trust me, if I could play, I would play). I’ve done only a handful of lineups when I could, with no magic bullets just yet. While I am taking the time out of my day to get this post out, I anticipate another low volume day from me. But time will tell, maybe you will end up seeing me in consecutive lobbies close to lock. Give me a subtle nod through the phone if you do.

I haven’t written anything since the most recent Perfect Game in MLB history. Lots of folks have given their dissenting opinions on the matter. Let me take this short opportunity to say: F*ck Domingo German.

Joe Ryan gets the Royals today. They’re hapless. I can see him winding up as a 1-2 turn pick by lock.

The word on the street is that Blake Snell will be pitching today. That’s at least how the Underdog users are drafting. There’s currently no starter listed for San Diego today per MLB, so I’m not going to be in any hurry to take him at his current 1st round price tag against Ohtani and Trout.

Mitch Keller has a tough matchup against the Dodgers today. I love a chance to be over the field on Mitch at a good price despite this.

Logan Webb and Bryan Woo have a chance at a real pitcher’s duel today. I’m skeptical of taking RHP against the Giants, but Webb against the Mariners looks really nice today. I’ll be all over that.

We are truly spoiled today with all the pitching available on this slate. Selecting a SP will be the easiest part of our day. Really hard to go wrong here.

I will be drafting more than just this selection of teams today, but these are my favorite targets for stacks. It’s been almost a week since I’ve given the slate a deep dive, and usually that means I come back pure as hell. But the truth is that I’m feeling quite rusty. That said, here’s what I’m liking today.

The Twins going against Austin Cox of the Royals today. His second start this season, after giving up 4 ER in 3.2 IP to the Guardians, Mister Cox is going to have his hands full. The Twins don’t offer a lot by way of name power, but the weather today looks prime for hitting. 10 MPH winds blowing out, 92 degrees Fahrenheit, if Byron Buxton doesn’t homer today I’m never drafting this dude ever again.

The Braves are up against Gavin Williams, who is a nice prospect for the Guardians. But the Braves are putting opposing pitchers in body bags lately, and quite frankly have been all season. They’re chalk today, and honestly for our contest they’re good chalk. If you drafting more than 10 teams today, you need at least a couple combinations of them. That said, I do like Gavin Williams on the whole.

The Giants have won me three contests this season when facing righties, so I’m always going to play them against righties all year. Joc & LaMonte no matter what.

The Padres are running away with the Most Disappointing Team of 2023 award that I just made up. A true embarrassment for the money that was spent and the caliber of players on this team. I wouldn’t blame you for not touching them. But I can’t advise that. They’re too good, and facing a pitcher that isn’t as good as his results have been in Jaime Barria. Sadly the field isn’t fading them, so you do need to pay up to draft them. But they’re a good bet today.

I will always take the Orioles against a righty. Domingo German, coming off a perfect game, should provide with us an excellent spot to take the O’s. I would love nothing more than to see his ass get ran out of this game as early as possible. I’ll be drafting O’s in hopes this happens. This isn’t good process, and better players are likely putting their emotions to the side and treating Baltimore as an “ok-to-decent” option today, but I am biased because I like this team and I don’t like German. It’s fine.
