7/17 Monday Moonshot + The Cycle

Today’s weather

Good morning! Happy Monday folks. We are in the thick of things now. 7th Inning Stretch is live, and the daily grind is back on. If you’re keeping track of my success, it has been almost a full month since my last bink. I’m thinking about changing that today.

Something new I will now be including are daily rankings! These will be micro ranks for individual batters in addition to my pitching preferences and my favorite teams on the day. I hope this is something that people will find useful and more actionable than reading my words.

Pitching Preferences

  1. Shane McClanahan
  2. Logan Gilbert
  3. Sonny Gray
  4. Logan Webb
  5. Jesus Luzardo
  6. Griffin Canning
  7. MacKenzie Gore
  8. Dane Dunning
  9. Drew Smyly
  10. Luis Severino
  11. Miles Mikolas
  12. Paul Blackburn
  13. Grayson Rodriguez
  14. Matt Manning

Kind of a weird pitching slate today. It’s hard to envision anyone outside of McClanahan separating today. With the Rangers still not hitting well, I think he is safely my SP1 today. Gilbert and Gray are a tier to their own today right behind him. They both pitch in Seattle today, and should both have nice starts today.

Luzardo at a glance seems like a safe pick. Cardinals are underperforming on the whole, Luzardo has K upside. But the St. Louis offense is still formidable, and are a problem for LHP. I’m going to be very cautious on Luzardo today, his spot makes me nervous.

MacKenzie Gore could end up being my highest owned pitcher today. Not an overly pitcher-friendly day at Wrigley today, but I like Gore’s chances today at a QS+W with K upside.

Favorite Teams

  1. Dodgers
  2. Tigers
  3. Marlins
  4. Orioles
  5. Giants
  6. Nationals
  7. Guardians
  8. Angels
  9. Red Sox
  10. Cardinals

Let’s get crazy. Today is looking pretty ambiguous, so I’m calling some shots. The Dodgers are facing one of my highest owned players in the Dinger Grayson Rodriguez. He was sent down to AAA early in this season and has been dealing. I’m still skeptical on him after being bitten on him in season long already, and it’s the Dodgers. Freddie and Muncy in Camden today feel like good clicks.

Tigers get Jordan Lyles, professional innings eater. I really like targeting RHP against the Tigers, so I’ll have plenty of Kerry Bonds, Zach McKinstry, Riley Greene, and Spencer Torkelson today.

Guardians are facing Quinn Priester today for the Pirates. Everything I’ve been told about QP is that he’s a perfectly 4 or 5. Sounds aggressively mid. His fastball is flat. His curve ball is nice, but doesn’t tunnel well. His slider is fine. This makes me very nervous when he is facing Jose Ramirez and Josh Naylor today. I’m a Pirates fan and not fading Guardians, so take that for what you will…
